Alex Michael Turner before and after

“I feel the HIIT keeps my metabolic rate up, and helps me keep my “shredded” look. It helps me to burn body fat while leaving the majority of my lean mass alone.”

Alex likes to perform cardio every day to keep his body fat low and his heart healthy. he will section his cardio at the end of each weight training session for 20 minutes. On Sundays, Alex will do HIIT as he feels it keeps his metabolic rate up much higher than steady state cardio.

On his HIIT day, Alex will work out anywhere between 30-45 minutes. He’ll use the Stairmaster, wind sprints, or running up and down stadium stairs.

For his world-famous abs, Alex will superset hanging leg raises with knee raises. He will also end each session with a drop set until failure. as Alex says, “This I feel allows me to break down every part of the muscle group I am working while pumping extra blood into that body part for added pump, muscle separation, and hardening.”

Alex’s Workout

  • Monday – Chest and Triceps (with abs)
  • Tuesday – Back and Biceps
  • Wednesday – Quads and Calves (with abs)
  • Thursday – Shoulders
  • Friday – Triceps and Biceps (with abs)
  • Saturday – Hamstrings and Calves
  • Sunday – Sundays are my HIIT days!

“When prepping meals, I will generally grill 8-10 chicken breasts at a time. I steam several stocks of asparagus and cook my rice at the same time.”

Alex will primarily use carb cycling or low carb dieting to keep his body fat low. And when he is on his high carb days, he doesn’t go any higher than 250g per day. When he’s on his lower carb days, Alex can really see his abs come out.

“If you are hitting your lifts hard, hitting your cardio diligently and sticking to your HIIT…try dropping your carbohydrate intake.”

Alex’s Diet

  • Meal 1 – 8-10 egg whites, 1 cup oatmeal.
  • Meal 2 – 6oz lean meat, (normally chicken) with asparagus.
  • Meal 3 – 6oz lean meat, with asparagus, and ½ cup brown rice.
  • Meal 4 – Protein shake,
  • Meal 5 (Generally post workout) – 6-8 oz of lean meat, generally red meat in the evenings to switch it up, with either 1 cup brown rice, or a side of sweet potatoes, paired with asparagus.

It appears that there was an error in capturing this athlete’s physical stats. If we are to assume that he does indeed have a 28″ waist (which would make sense at his height, weight and fitness level), then his arm circumference would probably measure 15-16inches…not 25 inches.

I am small, 5’4″, and adored body builders when I was young…..and I still do. I am not married, no children.

It is difficult to find straight body builders in Albuquerque, let alone, downtown near the bus station and ATC.

I will one day, soon, marry one. Love you. DP
